Germain De Cappucini Facial Review

Its fair to say my obsession with skincare and facials is not getting any smaller, it seems i cant go online without scouring beauty product sites or beauty therapy brochures; soon i may be asking for help! This is a review from the product house Germain de Cappucini, I do apologise but I had this facial whilst having an afternoon out with one of my friends and did not have my trusty notebook with me to note down every move the therapist made. Although this wasn’t the best facial that I have ever had there were elements that I really liked, including the cool scrub exfoliating scrub and heated bean bags.

At the time of this facial I had the reminiscence of some hormonal breakouts on my chin, not actual spots any more just the dry ugly blemishes that they leave behind. I felt like my skin needed a good ‘scrub’ which it definately got, the facial lasted one hour and compromised of a facial and scalp massage, every product was applied like it was part of the massaged never forgetting a pressure point or warm touch. The treatment began with warm bean bags applied to the decolletage which sent me straight into deep relaxation and the products followed :

Pure Expert Extra Comfort Cleansing Gel

Pure Expert Refiner Essence Expert Toner

Exfoliating Scrub – this had the most amazing menthol feeling on the skin there was no more of a ‘clean’ feeling than you could get

Facial massage – this routine was quite different to norm it contains a lot of ‘lifting’ movements which actually felt quite nice

Hydracure Facial Mask  –  a Hyaluronic based product – see  the ingredients post for more info

Scalp Massage – always a winner for me

Essential Youthfulness Eye Contour Cream – crepe skin around the eye is creeping its way in

Hydra Balance Facial Cream – hmmmm?

The facial itself was ok, unfortunately I think i’ve been spoilt with hand and arm massages, foot rubs and heated blankets although for those of you that don’t like all the fuss you probably appreciate the lack of massage. I suppose what i’m really trying to say is that there wasn’t a lot going off considering the facial lasted for 1 hour but the touches that were in there were great. I could see an improvement in my skin however I feel a would have probably benefited from some of the ranges more active products like the Glycocure or Vitamin C . I think that these may have given me slightly longer lasting results. I dont think I’ll be rushing back straight away but i will try something else from them before i completely make up my mind.

If you’d like to try before you buy go on the Germain De Cappuncini website fill in a fe details and they send you some free samples anyway !

Id love to know what your thoughts are on Germain De Cappuncini facials or products, tell us your thoughts in the comments

Sleek Pout Paint Mwah !

Just a short and sweet post to tell you my new lip love is Sleek Pout paint! Ive recently been wearing two shades; mauve over and milkshake. They come in a cute little tube with a coloured stripe that actually resembles the colour that goes onto your lips. A drop is all you need and the vibrant colour takes over your lips and at a purse friendly £4.99 ( I bought mine from superdrug but it is available online) I’m thinking about buying all the range, the next one on my hit list is a vibrant red called pin up.

Elemis Tri Enzyme Facial Review, Elements Medi Spa Doncaster

First of all apologies, I actually had this facial a few weeks ago and thought I had posted the review but scrolling through my draft posts I found it sitting there! If your feeling a bit down and need some relaxation and a skin pick me up then get googling the closest Elemis stockist to you and get booked in!

From the welcome touch to on my feet to the scalp massage and beautiful smelling oils everything about this facial was amazing. When entering the room the lights were dim and the candles flickered on the worktop, my therapist asked me to take a seat and we went through the consultation form that I filled out in the waiting room. As before when I’ve had other facials I explained that my concerns were dry and dull skin, together we decided that the Elemis Tri-Enzyme facial would be the best treatment for me.

The facial lasted just over an hour and was the perfect combination of beautiful smelling products and relaxing massage routines, I couldn’t tell where one product finished and another was applied so I asked the therapist if she would be able to write
me down a brief routine, so if your going to have an Elemis facial expect something like this:

Cleansing

Rehydrating Rosepetal Cleanser, to remove any make-up from the face and eye                       Elemis Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Was

Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing  Wash

Toner

Rehydrating Ginseng Toner

Facial, Neck and Chest Massage

Skin Bliss Capsules, contain meringa oil which is extremely hydrating on the skin the capsules can also be used as a skin         detox treatment.

Exfoliater

Papaya Enzyme Peel, pineapple and papaya enzymes work like pac man on the skin eating away old dead skin cells

Mask

Absolute eye mask, orange peel extract wakens the eye area

Tri-Enzyme Mask (professional only)

Scalp Massage

sending you off to sleep!

Mask

Soothing Treatment mas (Professional Only)

Hand and Arm Massage

frangipani monoi melt, smells divine and leaves the skin feeling brand new

Eye Product

Pro Collagen Eye Renewal to ward off those dreaded wrinkles

Neck and Bust Cream

Moisturiser

Pro Collagen Marine Cream, Elemis’ number 1 moisturiser leaves the skin soft, plump and hydrated

Through out the facial my therapist used 3 serums that are for professional use only, they were to enhance the products being used. They did feel quite tingly and had a sort of menthol feel, my therapist did explain to me that I may feel discomfort, after having the likes of a peel it felt like a tickle which was a welcome feeling and really quite refreshing.

This facial left my skin feeling amazing and not only for a couple of hours, but for the following people commented on how good my skin looked! Although we want results from a facial the massage that goes along with this facial seals the deal and makes a a definite winner for me !

Visia skin analysis ……. My Pictures!

VISIA analysis is the first step to achieving optimal skin renewal and the truly individualised care needed to achieve a radiant complexion.

VISIA produces images that capture the key visual information for the six areas affecting the appearance of your skin:
•        Fine lines and wrinkles
•        Sun damage (UV spots)
•        Enlarged pores
•        Skin texture
•        Skin bacteria
•        Damaged blood vessels
I was slightly nervous about what the results would be, but like they say ‘knowledge is power’ and if we can see what is wrong then we can put it right. So here goes………

Bacteria,

Also known as porphyrins, attack the surface of the skin and contribute to break outs and acne. It is important to remove the bacteria successfully without compromising the skin. A good example of this is the use of soap. Skin is acidic and soap is alkaline, that tight feeling that we get when we use soap is not beneficial it is strippingthe skin leaving it dry, dehydrated and dull whilst leaving behind the bacteria. A cleanser that uses plant enzymes which work like a packman on the skin removing any dirt debris or make-up are much more beneficial.

Pores,

Enlarged pores give an aged appearance to the skin. The tissue in the dermal layer becomes lax acting as a weight pulling down on the cells above giving the open appearance; it can also stretch the sebaceous glands which produce oil causing the surface of the skin to appear oily treatments that strengthen and rebuild the skin will help to reduce pore size.

Texture,

The texture of our skin is highly influenced by our lifestyle. The products that we use, smoking, UV exposure and diet. If we were to look at cell level the yellow would show the peaks in the skin and blue would show the dips this combination gives the skin a rough uneven appearance.

UV Damage,

UV damage appears in many ways on the surface of the skin,it can show as brown spots also known as age spots, lines and wrinkles and it can give the skin that thick leather look appearance. Melanin (brown spots) are produced as a response to exposure to UV, and without protection they will continue to get darker and darker. It is important to wear a sunscreen every day not just when your on holiday, UV is all around us lights, computer screens, driving in the car.

Damaged Blood Vessels,

Damaged blood vessels that appear on the surface of the skin are also known as thread veins or spider veins. They are commonly associated with rosacea, but can occur as a result of damage to the skin, sun burn and break outs. Broken Vessels are very common and very easily treat with IPL a quick simple treatment that can successfully reduce rosacea and individual vessels

Fine lines and Wrinkles,

It happens to us all, fine lines and wrinkles are at the top of everybody’s list. They appear as a result of facial movement, thinning skin and environmental damage.
– Although I’m must admit I’m rather happy with this image!;-)

Environ Hydrating Oil Capsules

Ok so I’m going to be honest and say I was a little sceptical at first as usually ‘capsules’ are a little gimmicky and contain very little product, however environ proved me wrong. I was initially drawn to these capsules for their ingredients, anything with vitamin A excites me.

Im going to write a post on the most potent ingredients and how they work which will give you a better idea of what vitamin A does, but for the moment it stimulates cell renewal which in turn, sloughs off old dead skin cells, improves the tone and texture of skin, helps to regulate acne and can even reduce pigment. All of these results leave your skin radiant and glowing. There are many products on the high street which claim to contain vitamin A (also called retinol), although they have such a little amount that there is not enough to penetrate the layers of the skin. Environ has a higher amount of active ingredient which means you really do get what you pay for.

Anyway back to the capsules, as well as the stimulation from the vitamin A the capsules also hydrate the skin and help to fight free radicals that attack the surface of the skin. When I opened my first capsule I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of product inside, much more than inside some other brands. I had already cleansed my skin with a glycolic cleanser and applied the capsule all over even having enough product to use on my neck.

The product was silky, light and easily absorbed into my skin it even smelt lovely which is always a bonus. Then I went to bed.

The morning saw me wake to a lovely silky smooth skin and one happycustomer.  Environ provided a product that did what it said on the pot, it hydrated my skin giving it with a healthy glow, banishing dull dry patches.

I was so impressed we have actually started to use it in clinic after our clients have had treatments such as Dermaroller or LED light therapy.

Skin Needling, the wonder treatment!

Skin Needling is the treatment that is taking the skincare industry by storm! Everywhere you look it is being used to treat many concerns, from scarring on embarrassing bodies, to lines and wrinkles on anti-aging programs and most importantly available to you in skincare clinics.

This is definitely up there as one of the most popular skin treatments that we use in clinic and its the treatment of choice for most of our staff 😉 .

Why all the fuss?
Skin Needling stimulates natural collagen and cell renewal by increasing the production of growth factors (seeVampire Facelift). Growth factors work in response to trauma, the needles on the roller cause tiny puncture wounds in the skin.

In a professional clinic treatment the size of the needles used are between 1mm and 3mm long, home rollers are usually 0.25mm long.

Professional clinic treatments
As the needles used are long enough to penetrate to the dermal layer of the skin a slight discomfort usually occurs during treatment. This discomfort is over come by using a topical anaesthetic around 40minutes prior to the treatment.
The end point in a professional treatment is pin point bleeding, it is the presence of blood that is responsible for the amazing results!
After the treatment your skin will appear very red, this can last for around 24hours.
As the results are a response to the wound healing process the skin will continue to improve for the following 40 days.

Skin needling successfully treats:
•lines & wrinkles
•thinning skin
•dull sallow skin
•acne scars
•uneven skin tone
•prevention of aging
Although the results are amazing this treatment is not a quick fix. The treatment plan takes place over a 6 month period with one treatment at 4 weekly intervals. In order to enhance your results a skincare routine containing a RETINOL product will work wonders!

Follow the Light

Over the past year we have introduced LED light therapy into our clinic, and we now use it after almost every treatment. After testing several different machines we decided to purchase a machine from Dermalux, a decision that we are very pleased with.

So what is LED light therapy? All my clients ask me this on their first treatment and then the results speak for themselves….

LED light therapy is a non-thermal, non-invasive lightsystem that increases cell renewal, rejuvenates the skin, reduces inflammation, kills bacteria and prevents acne breakouts. And all you haveto do is lay under it!!
The narrow band light has the ability to penetrate the skin where it is then converted and used as energy, this energy is then used to accelerate the cell renewal process increasing mitosis and resulting in more healthy skin cells. This process is very similar to the photosynthesis that occurs in plants.
Although this is a light treatment it is not in the damaging form of UV, therefor it will not cause any type of damage to the skin (or eyes) it will only have beneficial effects.
The LED light that we use comes in 2 colours red and blue, they can be used individually to target specific skin concerns or can be usedin combination to achieve the desired results.
Red LED light
  • eczema & psoriasis
  • healing
  • soothing
  • anti aging
  • rejuvenation
  • redness
  • reduce inflammation
Blue LED light
  • anti-bacterial
  • preventacne breakouts
  • reduces active acne
I would encourage everyone no matter what age, skin type or concern to try LED light therapy. It may be a treatment that works for you on its own or you might combine it with others such as facials, microdermabrasion, peels, resurfacers, dermaroller or laser treatments. For information on clinics near you or more information on how it will help your skin just ask and I willbe hapy to help
